Restoring the "Hidden Figures" of the Military Women’s Memorial 🎖️

I recently spent some time looking through archives of the Military Women’s Memorial. It’s incredible to see the faces of women from the 40s and 50s who served in such challenging roles. Sadly, many of these original prints are scratched, faded, or losing their color.

I believe these “records of resilience” deserve to be seen in high definition. I’ve started a small project using AI to restore some of these old military photos, and the results are emotional:

  • Healing Scratches: Removing decades of wear and tear without losing the vintage soul.

  • Adding Color: Bringing realistic skin tones and uniform colors (like Navy Blue or Olive Drab) to B&W shots.

  • Face Recovery: Seeing the determination in their eyes with 4K clarity.

I personally use HitPaw FotorPea for this—its “Old Photo Restorer” model is surprisingly good at handling heavy physical damage.

Do any of you have old photos of the women in your family who served? I’d love to see them or even help you figure out how to restore them! Let’s keep their stories alive.
