Converting 480p to 1080p - The Difference Was Bigger Than I Expected

I recently found a bunch of old clips from my early YouTube days — back when 480p was considered “HD.” Watching them now on a modern screen was kind of rough — everything looked soft, blurry, and a bit grainy.

Out of curiosity, I tried to convert 480p to 1080p using an AI video enhancer just to see what would happen. Honestly, the results surprised me. The colors looked more balanced, edges were sharper, and the whole video felt more alive. It didn’t look brand-new, but it definitely felt watchable again.

It’s crazy how far video quality enhancement has come. Tools that can fix grainy video or restore old videos make it so easy to bring back moments we thought were “stuck” in the early 2000s.

Has anyone else here tried upscaling old clips or fan edits from 480p to 1080p? What kind of results did you get — and did it feel worth it?
