Why is it that during a render to 1080p, it says it’s gonna take 5 hours, yet my CPU is idle at under 6%, and my GPU is also idle at 1% to 6%. It’s not even making my fans turn on. I’m on a threadripper 32 core, and a RTX 3060. Meanwhile, it’s spamming messages all over my screen saying “You’re computer is slow, you should buy credits for cloud acceleration!” And yet my CPU and GPU are both practically idle. Yet it’s definitely rendering, it’s at 11.81% right now and slowly climbing, and says it’s gonna take 5 hours total. Is the program designed to throttle your computer, and it’s rendering really slow on purpose, just to get you to pay for cloud processing?
I just bought Vikpea yesterday and started using it. I have a RTX5090 so with TensorRT it is very fast. However I have the following questions and request:
Does TensorRT reduce the enhancement quality? I notice the actual output file improvement seems to be worst than in the preview.
In the Video Enhancer, I select an output Frames per second of 60fps to bump up from the video’s original 24fps. However, despite the output video being 60fps, I noticed zero actual improvement in smoothness. The same video processed under Topaz AI, Aiarty, and WinXvideo using frame interpolation to 60fps makes a huge noticeable difference in smoothness. Can you please fix this issue with the frame interpolation in the Video Enhancer not making any real world differences?
Feature request: Can you add an option to tweak color and exposure levels like in some of the other AI Video Enhancers out there? This feature is super convenient and super useful.
Overall, as a new customer of Hitpaw Vikpea, I am happy with the AI enhancement quality. With the TensorRT on, it is the fastest AI video enhancer I’ve used, though I only tried a few small videos so far. The enhancement quality is better than some of the competitors too. If Hitpaw can fix/implement the above, I will recommend Hitpaw Vikpea as the top AI enhance app all over social media.

Actually after using it more, it is only some of the models that are fast but comparing with other AI enhancers, it is not really faster than I originally thought. Some models are extremely slow and I’m not sure if it is because Hitpaw wants you to pay for their cloud rendering. The model I like most is the Portrait Restoration Model. It is similar to the IRIS model in Topaz. There pretty much is an equivalent to every Topaz model besides Starlight but quality is slightly worst than Topaz and you can’t do frame interpolation simultaneous with video upscaling in Hitpaw so it is much more time consuming.
Support please help. I already emailed with no response. Why is your software locking out perpetual users from earlier this year. I paid $399.99 and its asking me to pay more now during the same year of purchase. The software has stopped working completely.
From experimenting, 1x upscale (original resolution) the General Restoration model is really good for 4k video. It beats every AI model in Topaz such as Proteus and even RHEA and RHEA XL model. For 2x upscale though, Proteus seem a bit better. From now on I’m going to use Vikpea General Restoration on all 1x upscales. I haven’t been able to test the other Vikpea models like UHD restoration because the other models besides General Restoration is unusably slow.
