Let’s Talk: The Gilded Age Episodes & Watching in the Best Quality

Has anyone else been completely hooked on HBO’s The Gilded Age? :sparkles:

The show takes us straight into 1880s New York City—glamorous ballrooms, Fifth Avenue mansions, the clash of old money vs. new money—it’s basically eye candy for history lovers and drama fans alike.

But here’s the thing I’ve noticed: the show is so visually stunning that watching in low quality almost feels like cheating yourself. The tiny details in the gowns, chandeliers, and even facial expressions sometimes get lost when streaming compresses the video.

That made me curious—how do you all make sure you’re getting the best viewing experience for shows like this?

I recently tried enhancing some episodes with HitPaw VikPea (our AI video enhancer), and it really surprised me. It can:

  • Upscale older or compressed episodes up to 8K

  • Clean up noise and sharpen details without making it look artificial

  • Boost colors so costumes and sets feel more vivid

  • Even enhance faces so expressions don’t get blurred out

It honestly made Season 1 feel like a new experience for me.

So I wanted to throw this out to the community:
:backhand_index_pointing_right: Do you notice a big difference in video quality when streaming shows like The Gilded Age?
:backhand_index_pointing_right: Would you rewatch earlier seasons if you could see them in sharper, more detailed resolution?
:backhand_index_pointing_right: And beyond The Gilded Age, what other shows or movies do you think really deserve that “extra polish” from AI video enhancement?

I’d love to hear your thoughts, because I feel like period dramas especially lose a lot when the visuals aren’t crisp.

:speech_balloon: Drop your thoughts below—I’m super curious how everyone here approaches this. Do you just stream as-is, or do you enhance your videos first?
