MTV Music Channels Are Shutting Down — But Maybe We Can Keep the Music Alive in New Ways
Hey folks,
I just read that MTV’s big music channels — MTV Music, MTV 80s, MTV 90s, Club MTV and MTV Live — will officially shut down by the end of 2025.
That hit harder than I expected. I grew up watching those late-night countdowns, weird VJ intros, and live festival clips before YouTube even existed. MTV was how I discovered music.
It feels strange to think those channels are going dark for good.
Like part of how we used to experience sound and visuals — together, live, imperfect — is disappearing.
But then I started thinking: maybe music doesn’t die with a channel.
People are still creating, remixing, and even covering old hits with new tools.
Lately I’ve been playing around with HitPaw VoicePea, an AI voice changer that can tweak your tone, add effects, or even make your cover songs sound like different eras — ‘80s rock, 2000s pop, whatever vibe you miss.
It’s surprisingly fun. Almost like bringing MTV energy into 2025 — but on your laptop instead of your TV.
So I’m curious:
Do you think we’ll ever see something like MTV again?
Have you tried re-creating or remixing songs from that era with AI tools?
Drop your thoughts — or your best “MTV-style” cover!
